Student Life at OCSCS:
Extra-Curricular Activities & Athletics

At our OCSCS, student life is vibrant and dynamic, offering a wide range of extracurricular activities that cater to diverse interests and talents. We believe in nurturing the whole student, which is why we offer after-school sports, competitive soccer, and intramural lunch competitions for students who love physical activity and teamwork. For those with a passion for technology and creativity, our Innovation Lab Club is available both before and after school, providing hands-on opportunities to explore STEM projects. We also offer an exciting after-school esports program, giving students a chance to compete and collaborate in a digital environment. During lunchtime, students can participate in noon-time activities and games that foster community and friendly competition. Whether your child is interested in athletics, innovation, or gaming, our diverse extracurricular offerings create an engaging and well-rounded student life experience.

ASB

ASB is currently open to 8th grade students only. The Associated Student Body (ASB) plays a key role in fostering school spirit and creating a positive school environment. ASB is responsible for planning and organizing a variety of student activities, including school events, dances, spirit days, and community service projects. Students involved in ASB develop leadership skills by managing budgets, coordinating events, and representing the student body in discussions with school administration. ASB gives students a voice in shaping their school experience and promotes a sense of community, teamwork, and responsibility. Through ASB, students can make meaningful contributions to the school while developing important life skills.

Applications and interview for ASB occur annual each Spring.

OCSCS Athletics

Our middle school athletics program offers a diverse range of sports opportunities designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and school spirit. In the fall, students can participate in co-ed volleyball and cross country, while winter brings the excitement of flag football and wrestling. During the spring, our athletes take part in track, allowing them to compete and improve their skills across various events. In addition to our PYLUSD league after-school sports, we proudly offer competitive boys' and girls' soccer teams, coached by Esperanza High School's Alex Flor and Coach Rene Luna. This competitive soccer program provides advanced training and the opportunity for students to excel under experienced leadership. Our athletics program encourages students to stay active, build lasting friendships, and develop valuable life skills through sportsmanship and competition.
